Great projects, innovative customers and the demand on ourselves to develop further is what drives LONGO to find new solutions over and over again. Continuous learning and adaptation are part of our daily routine and enable us to successfully implement new approaches step by step. It is a matter of growing with challenges, for which above all open communication with the employees is necessary. It is indispensable that everyone involved pulls together and has the collective goals in mind. This applies to both the location in Augsburg and the headquarters in Bolzano.
One LONGO company with different specialisations: Offset and digital printing. The direct contact between the two centres of expertise is important. Only through exchang do they manage to support and complement each other in order to be able to apply the ideal technology for the customer's desired product. While Bolzano takes care of offset printing, Augsburg concentrates on digital printing, which has a strategic reason. The corporate printing portals mainly serve German customers and require digital presses as they deal with smaller production volumes.
For a major order, the printing company based in Augsburg developed a print-on-demand concept specially designed for the customer. This enabled LONGO to offer the best possible solution for the customer and to assert itself against the competition from China. The order is about printing postcard sets in metal boxes in the exact quantity as required. The challenge is to produce small orders in a way that is easy to handle and reasonable. A specially designed machine, a fully automated MIS system and automated workflows enabled a cost-effective and sustainable production. The use of a software that permits orders to be created in the shortest possible time, be accepted fully automatically and be forwarded to production is essential here.
Furthermore the digital printing company provides an answer to customer needs with an internally developed corporate printing portal. The portal functions as a tool that enables large companies in different locations to independently adapt information on advertising materials without interfering with the corporate design. The so-called Marketing Toolbox facilitates production on demand and thus avoids throw-aways. The creation of uniform marketing materials is therefore simple and efficient.
When LONGO's in-house advertising agency LONGO Creative won a pitch for the development of an Italian debit card, the printing company was faced with a new challenge. The production of the personalised cards with customised assets required coordination and reliability. This task was mastered as well and LONGO has been taking care of the coordination with the different project partners and the production of the coded credit cards since 2015.
Customisation is another area that LONGO Germany covers. Automated processes for the production of personalised packaging are part of the portfolio that LONGO offers. The company has been producing personalised packaging for the German organic muesli supplier mymuesli for many years now.
In the future, the company wants to continue developing new offers and products in order to remain curious and fresh and to always be able to meet new requirements. Not standing still, but continuing to grow beyond itself; investing in ideas and constantly challenging itself is the aim of the company with the traditional core competence of PRINT.
